Our Story — Three Bird Bams

More than 15 years ago, Beth, Lisa, and Mary Jane met while cheering on their daughters from the sidelines of soccer games. Through the years, that chance meeting grew into a lasting friendship filled with family celebrations, beach days, laughter and countless memories together.

In January 2026 we discovered American Mahjong and were quickly hooked. What began as learning a new game quickly became something much more. We found ourselves drawn to the friendships, the community, and the joy of gathering around the table. Before long, we realized we wanted to create a place where others could experience that same sense of connection.

Three Bird Bams was born from a shared vision of offering beautifully curated, elevated mahjong experiences where everyone feels welcome. Whether you're picking up your first tile or a seasoned enthusiast joining us for open play, we hope you'll always feel like you've found your flock. We believe the table is a place where strangers become friends, confidence grows, stories are shared, and laughter is always encouraged.

Founder

Hey there — I'm Beth, one of the founders of Three Bird Bams. I come from a big family of sisters, so I've always believed that life is best spent surrounded by the people you love, and I've been gathering friends around a table (or a beach chair) ever since.

I fell in love with American Mahjong not just for the game itself, but for everything that comes with it: the friendships I've made, the laughter around the table, and the joy of meeting new people who quickly feel like old friends. For me, mahjong is less about the tiles and more about the connection.

When I'm not at the mahjong table, you'll find me hosting friends and family, strolling and shopping my way through Charleston, trying new restaurants, and listening to local bands. I also love a good book — and most of all, I treasure time spent at the beach with my friends and making memories with my two daughters.

Through Three Bird Bams, I hope every guest walks away with more than just a love of the game. I hope you leave with new friends, plenty of laughs, and a seat at the table whenever you want one.

Hey y'all! I'm Lisa. I'm a Charleston native through and through, and I can't imagine calling anywhere else home. I love the Lowcountry — its salt water, beaches, charm, traditions, history, and all the wonderful reasons it gives us to gather, celebrate, and have a little fun.

My greatest joy is time spent with my family and the friends who feel like family. Whether we're out on the boat, spending a day at the beach, cheering on the Clemson Tigers, enjoying a country music concert, shopping local boutiques, or throwing a themed party, I'm happiest when I'm surrounded by the people I love. Add in some good food, lots of laughter, and maybe a little friendly competition, and I'm in my happy place!

By day, I'm a Talent Acquisition Manager for a local bank, but outside of work, I'm always looking for the next reason to bring people together. I love planning the details, creating a fun atmosphere, and making sure everyone feels welcome, included, and ready to enjoy themselves.

When I discovered American Mahjong, I immediately recognized something special. The game brought together so many of the things I love most: gathering around a table, sharing stories, laughing with friends, learning something new, and making space for meaningful connection. And let's be honest — there's nothing better than a little strategy, a little luck, and a lot of laughter!

I'm so excited for this new adventure and can't wait to see who I meet along the way. Here's to good times, new friendships and growing the Three Bird Bams flock!

Mary Jane

Hey friends! I'm Mary Jane. I've been Southern my whole life, and I'm pretty sure a little Southern charm runs through my veins! I'm a proud mom of three, and my family will always be my greatest joy. I love nothing more than time spent with the people I love, a beautiful beach, a good book, and having a little adventure along the way.

I've been lucky enough to travel around the world, but the Greek Islands hold a special place in my heart. Give me sunshine, blue water, good food, and a beautiful place to wander, and I'm one happy girl!

My Mahjong story is a new one. I picked up my first tiles in January with two dear friends, Lisa and Beth, and before long, we were completely hooked. What started as a little fun between friends quickly turned into a whole lot of laughter, a love for the game, and the idea that maybe we should share it with more people. And just like that… Three Bird Bams was born!

I've learned that Mahjong is about so much more than knowing your tiles. It's about gathering around a table, laughing until your cheeks hurt, meeting new friends, and enjoying a little time to slow down and have fun.

And that's what joining our flock means to me. It means there's always a seat at the table, a few laughs waiting to be shared, and new friendships just waiting to take flight. So pull up a chair, grab your tiles, and come join our flock. We're mighty glad you're here!
